What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that lets AI connect to external tools and take actions on your behalf. Once connected, your AI can browse your workspaces, draft posts, pull analytics, and more — all without you having to switch tabs.

Think of it as giving your AI a set of keys to your Planable account — but you control exactly which doors those keys open.

What you can do with Planable MCP

Once connected, your AI assistant can work across the following areas of Planable:

• Posts & Media — browse, create, update, and schedule posts; upload and manage media files.
• Workspaces & Pages — list workspaces, view connected social pages, and check workspace settings.
• Labels — create and manage content labels for organizing posts.
• Approval & Comments — monitor approval status, read and add comments, and track feedback on posts. This is one of the most popular use cases — teams use AI to stay on top of what needs approval and what feedback has come in across workspaces.
• Campaigns — create, update, browse, and delete campaigns; assign or unassign posts to campaigns.
• Custom Views — create and manage calendar, feed, grid, and list views with filters, including public shareable links.
• Competitor Analytics — compare your pages against competitors side by side, track follower and engagement trends, and view competitors' top posts. You can also add and remove tracked competitors via AI.
• Social Listening — monitor keyword mentions across platforms, track volume, engagement, and sentiment.
• Analytics — pull page-level and post-level performance metrics and summaries.

Connect Planable to ChatGPT

You can add Planable directly as an App inside ChatGPT, no manual URL entry needed.

1. In ChatGPT, open the Apps section from the sidebar or settings.
2. Search for Planable and select it from the results.
3. Click Connect.
4. Log in with your Planable account to authorize the connection.

Connect Planable to Claude

*If you're using Claude as part of a team or organization, you need admin access to add a custom connector.

1. In Claude, go to Settings and open the Connectors section.
2. Click Add custom connector and enter the following:
   • URL: https://mcp.planable.io/mcp
   • Name: Planable

3. Find Planable in the Connectors list and click Connect.

4. Log in with your Planable account to authorize the connection.

Connect Planable to other AI tools

Any MCP-compatible AI tool can connect to Planable using the same server URL. Here's the general flow:

1. In your AI tool, find the MCP connectors or integrations section.
2. Add a new connector with this URL: https://mcp.planable.io/mcp
3. Name it Planable.
4. Authorize the connection by logging in with your Planable account.

Managing your connection

Once connected, you can review and manage your integration at any time.

• View active permissions — see exactly what your AI is allowed to do
• Revoke access — disconnect your AI tool instantly

Connections expire after 8 hours of inactivity and refresh automatically. Your consent is valid for 180 days — after that, you'll need to reconnect.

A note on permissions: The AI can only do what you can do. If you don't have the Analytics add-on on a workspace, the AI won't be able to pull analytics for it either. If you're on a plan with a post creation limit, the AI can't create posts beyond that limit. Your plan and workspace permissions always apply.
