Get an accurate preview of your video posts and select a preferred thumbnail for your Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube videos.*
*For Instagram, this feature is available for video posts that are directly published. For TikTok, you can only use a frame from the video, uploading a custom thumnail is not supported through the API.
When composing a post, after you upload the video you'll find the option to choose a thumbnail in the top left corner.
You can either choose to upload an image from your computer or choose one from your media library.*
Below the video, the slider will show up as well, and you can go frame by frame until you find the perfect one to set as your video cover.

To help clear up where you can use custom thumbnails so you can easily plan and customize your content across different platforms, here are some guidelines:
In the 'Post' section of the composer, you can add custom thumbnails for Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and YouTube. However, custom thumbnails are not allowed for Instagram or TikTok in this section.
When it comes to the 'Reels' section, custom thumbnails are permitted for both Instagram and Facebook.
In the 'Shorts' section for YouTube, custom thumbnails are not available.
Additionally, for X (formerly Twitter), there is no option to choose a thumbnail, whether custom or from the video itself.
