Create, schedule, approve, and publish photo and video stories to Facebook right alongside your other content.
Creating a Facebook Story
Facebook Stories live in the same place as Instagram Stories. You can create one from the feed view or from the Composer:
- Select your Facebook Page as the channel.
- In the feed view, click New story.
- Or click the blue Compose button (top-right) and select the Story tab.
- Upload your photo or video. Each story takes one media item, upload multiple to build a bulk story sequence.
Facebook Stories show up in the stories carousel and on the calendar with the same status indicators you're used to (draft, pending approval, approved, scheduled, published, failed).
Publishing methods
There are two ways to publish a Facebook Story, directly to the platform, or through our mobile app.
You can enable or disable direct publishing from your page settings in Planable:
Or you can do this for each post when you create it:
Direct Publish
Planable automatically posts the story to Facebook at the scheduled time. No action needed on your end. This is the simplest option for photo and video stories without stickers.
Publish via Mobile
At the scheduled time, Planable sends a push notification to your phone. Tapping it opens the Facebook app, where you post the story manually. This method is required when your story has stickers (see below), since Facebook doesn't allow stickers to be added automatically.
Good to know: Stickers serve as placeholders in Planable. You'll be able to copy the content over from the mobile app directly to Facebook when publishing.
Post to Facebook + Instagram together
To publish the same story to both networks, simply select a Facebook Page and an Instagram account in the Composer. The sync option in the top right corner will automatically be enabled, copying the content over to both pages.
Stickers
You can add sticker details to a Facebook Story in the Composer: link, mention, location, music, questions, fundraiser, and feelings (the last two are Facebook-only).
Since Facebook doesn't allow stickers to be published automatically, stickers are only available when Publish via Mobile is selected. Here's how it works:
- Add sticker details in the Composer — they appear as visual indicators in the preview.
- At publish time, Planable sends a push notification to your phone.
- The app shows you exactly which stickers to add, so you can recreate them in the Facebook app before posting.
Good to know: Stickers are set per image and are never synced between channels. On a Facebook + Instagram story sharing the same image, stickers must be added manually to each channel — they won't copy across automatically.
Bulk stories
You can build a group of up to 20 stories that publish in sequence. Just upload multiple media items in the Composer, and you can reorder them by drag-and-drop and preview the full sequence.
Bulk stories with stickers can be published via mobile across multiple Facebook Pages, or across Facebook + Instagram together. When you have a Facebook + Instagram bulk story with stickers, Planable sends a single push notification. Tapping it walks you through Instagram stories first, then Facebook stories — one notification covers the whole group.
Limitations & media specs
Keep these in mind when creating Facebook Stories:
- One media item per story — a single photo or a single video.
- Bulk groups are capped at 20 stories.
- Stickers require Publish via Mobile — they can't be added automatically.
- Stickers are not synced between channels — they must be added manually to each image when cross-posting.
- Published stories sync back — stories published to a Facebook Page (including ones posted outside Planable) appear as read-only items in your feed, keeping your content history complete.
