Create, plan, review & schedule your favorite Stories for Instagram with your team directly from Planable.

Creating stories

You can create stories either from the feed view, where you'll see the option "New story":

Or directly from the composer (locate and click the blue Compose button in the top-right corner of the screen) by selecting the Story tab:

Depending on how you choose to publish your stories—either directly or via the mobile app—you’ll have access to the following options:

Direct publishing option:

  • Add image

  • Add video

  • Edit image/video

Publishing through the mobile app (manual publishing):

  • Add image

  • Add video

  • Add stickers/test/links/notes etc.

Limitations:

There are a few limitations imposed by Instagram on all 3rd party tools that we need to keep in mind:

  • Stories can only be published with one image or video at a time.

  • You can post stories directly by having a business Instagram account. If you'd like to switch to a business account, here is how.

  • Adding text effects or stickers to Stories is not available for direct publishing.

  • Stories must comply with Instagram's Community Guidelines.

  • You cannot publish stories that are longer than 60 seconds.

  • You cannot publish stories with multiple images or videos.

  • You cannot publish stories with interactive elements, such as polls or questions.

  • You cannot publish stories with links, hashtags, or mentions.

The dimensions for Instagram Stories are 1080 pixels wide by 1920 pixels tall (1080 x 1920, or 1080p resolution).
Your Instagram Story size should have an aspect ratio of 9:16.
The minimum width is 500 pixels, the maximum video length is 15 seconds, and the accepted video file types are MP4, MOV, or GIF.

Scheduling stories

After you create the story, you'll be able to schedule or publish it.

From your page settings, you can choose how you'd like to publish stories.

You can also switch between options directly from Composer.

Publishing directly

When adding a page in Planable, publishing stories automatically will be disabled, so make sure to enable it from the page settings as shown above.

Once you've scheduled your story it will be published directly on your Instagram page at the chosen date & time.

Publishing through the mobile app

If you prefer to make some last edits from Instagram (add mentions, links, polls, etc.) or you have a Creator account, you can publish using the Planable mobile app.

After you schedule your story, when it's time to publish you'll receive a notification on your mobile device (download the apps here) to publish the post, then you're redirected to the Instagram account you'll be guided on how to publish your story.

Don't forget to come back to the screen in Planable and mark the post as published.
