What are Custom Views (and why should you care)?
Think of Custom Views as your personal content assistants. They remember exactly how you like to organize, review, or approve posts — so you don't have to recreate those perfect filters every single time. One click and you're looking at exactly what you need.
Your Custom Views cheat sheet
Here's the simple formula for creating any Custom View:
- Select your view — Calendar, Feed, or any other view.
- Apply filters that matter to you (Status, Date, Labels, Period, or any combination).
- Save as Custom View with a descriptive name.
- Access instantly from your Views menu anytime.
Good to know: Your views stay dynamic — they automatically update as new content matches your filters.
Here are the most common ways agencies and brands use Custom Views to save time.
1. A 14-day view for posts pending approval
When content is added, the team or client needs a clean way to see what's waiting for review for the upcoming 14 days — without the distraction of already-approved content. A "Waiting for Approval" view puts approvers in front of only what needs their attention.
Here's how
- Filter by Approval Status. Select: Not approved, Partially approved, and Pending my approval.
- Set the time period to Next 14 days in the Period filter.
- Click Save as a Custom View and name it — e.g. "14-day approval dashboard" or "Bi-weekly calendar to approve".
- Open the view anytime to see exactly what needs attention. Nothing slips through the cracks.
2. Organize calendar content for 2+ clients under one workspace
Managing Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn for multiple clients in the same workspace? Keeping track of which content belongs to which client gets mentally taxing fast. A "Brand/Client Name" view groups all pages per client — so you always know what belongs to whom.
Here's how
- Select the Calendar view in your workspace.
- Choose the pages for Brand Name 1.
- Click Create a Custom View.
- Name it (e.g. "Brand Nr. 1 Calendar") and save it.
- Now you can see the calendar content for each brand individually.
3. View scheduled content by time period
You plan content days, weeks, and months in advance — but different tasks call for different timeframes. Create "This Week", "Next Week", or "Monthly Overview" views so you can switch perspectives in one click, whether you're doing a quick daily check or planning a full month ahead.
Here's how
Example: creating an overview of scheduled posts for the month of April.
- Select the Calendar view and choose the pages for Brand Name 1.
- Open Filter & Sort.
- Filter by Post Status and select Scheduled.
- Filter by Period and select a custom range — for example, the entire month of April.
- Name it (e.g. "Brand 1 – Scheduled for April") and save it.
You can create as many views as needed for any period. For example:
- All posts scheduled for a specific month
- All posts scheduled for this week (dynamic, auto-updating)
- All posts pending approval for today
4. View posts with a specific label assigned
Labels in Planable can represent content pillars ("Educational", "TOFU", "Engagement"), events ("Christmas", "Q4 Strategy"), or collaboration needs ("Graphics Needed"). Creating a Custom View per label lets each person focus on exactly what's relevant to them — a designer, for example, can instantly see every post that needs their input.
Here's how
- Filter by Labels and select the relevant label — e.g. "Graphics needed".
- Name it (e.g. "Graphics needed") and save it.
- Your design team can now open the view and see all content that needs their input.
5. A view with all approved posts
Whether you're presenting a finalized content plan or just want to filter out drafts, an "Approved Posts" view shows only signed-off content — no clutter, no unnecessary detail.
Here's how
- Filter by Approval Status and select Approved.
- Optionally, filter by Period as well — such as a specific month or week.
- Name it (e.g. "Approved April") and save it.
Custom Views save time, reduce clutter, and ensure you focus on what matters most — perfect for teams juggling multiple clients, content types, or timeframes.
