What is Brand context
Brand context is a section inside your workspace settings that acts as a living document for your brand identity. It's a rich-text editor pre-structured with four sections:
- Company description – what the company does
Products & services – the main products or services the brand offers
- Tone of Voice — how your brand should sound.
- Brand Values — the principles that guide your messaging.
- Approved Terminology — words, phrases, or naming conventions to use (or avoid).
- Audience — who your brand is speaking to.
Once filled in, it becomes a shared reference for your team — and Planable's AI uses it automatically to keep generated content on-brand. Each workspace has its own Brand context.
Good to know: Your entries save automatically as you type.
Set up your Brand context
- Open Brand context from your workspace settings
- Fill in the four sections — Tone of Voice, Brand Values, Approved Terminology, and Audience. Each has placeholder text to guide you.
- That's it — your entries save automatically, and Planable's AI starts using them right away.
💡 Pro tip: Managing multiple clients? Fill in separate brand guidelines per workspace so the AI adapts to each client's voice automatically.
How Planable's AI uses it
When Brand context is filled in, Planable's AI automatically applies it to these AI actions:
- Generate post
- Generate from posts
- Rewrite
- Continue writing
These actions focus on structure rather than voice, so they don't use Brand context: Shorten and Generate hashtags.
Good to know: The editor has no hard limit, but the AI uses up to 4,000 characters of your Brand context — keep it concise for the best results. There's nothing to enable; once saved, it just works, and it only affects new AI-generated content (never posts you've already published).
Who can access it
Access depends on the member's role:

| View Brand context | Ye | Yes | Yes | If visible |
| Edit Brand context | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Toggle client visibility | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| AI uses Brand context | Yes | Yes | Yes | If visible |
Use the client visibility toggle to decide whether external clients can see your Brand context or keep it internal to your team.
