What is Competitor Analytics
Competitor Analytics is a Competitors tab inside Planable Analytics that lets you benchmark your own social performance against competitor accounts. You can compare follower counts, posting activity, and average engagement, track how those metrics trend over time, and see your competitors' best-performing posts — all in one place, so your team doesn't have to leave Planable to check on the competition.
Open the analytics tab in your workspace and select Competitors.
*Available for Facebook Pages, Instagram professional accounts, YouTube channels, TikTok accounts, and LinkedIn company pages.
Add competitors
Only Owners and users with Edit & Analyze permissions can add or remove competitors. Other team members can view competitor data but cannot modify the competitor list.
- In the Competitors tab, click + Add.
- Type the competitor's page name, handle, or profile URL (the platform is taken from the page you're viewing). Search results appear as you type — pick the right one from the list.
- The first sync runs right away and usually completes within about a minute; data then refreshes daily.
You may also see a Suggested competitors section in the popover — these are system-suggested pages that are similar to your own, so you can add them with one click instead of searching.
Good to know: You can track up to 5 competitors per page. Competitor data is gathered from each platform's public data and syncs once a day, so figures reflect the most recent daily sync rather than live numbers.
What you can see
-
Charts card (tabbed) — a single card at the top of the panel with three tabs:
- Positioning — a bi-color matrix plotting your page against competitors, with quadrant names: Efficient, Leading, Quiet, and Grinding (above vs. below the line).
- Growth — day-over-day follower growth trend. Available for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn only. TikTok and YouTube show engagement-only because their follower counts arrive rounded.
- Engagement — engagement trend over time for your page and all tracked competitors.
- Quick comparison table — followers, posting activity, and average engagement for your page and each competitor, with period-over-period changes. Now positioned after the charts card.
- Word cloud — a visual summary of the most common terms used across competitor posts.
- Top performing content — each competitor's best-performing content by engagement.
- Content mix — a per-competitor breakdown of content types (e.g., images, videos, carousels) so you can see how competitors balance their formats.
Platform-specific notes
- YouTube — Views is the headline metric (rather than engagement). The content strategy view splits Shorts from long-form video, so you can see how competitors balance short and long content. The Growth tab is not available for YouTube because follower counts arrive rounded; the charts card shows engagement-only data instead.
- TikTok — data is gathered via a third-party data provider. The Growth tab is not available for TikTok because follower counts arrive rounded; the charts card shows engagement-only data instead.
- LinkedIn — engagement includes likes and comments (reposts are not counted). Impressions are not available because LinkedIn limits this data to page admins.
Export your data
You can export the full dataset — including competitor metrics and their top posts — as a CSV for reporting or deeper analysis.
Pricing
Competitor analytics is available through the analytics add-on for your workspaces. Pricing for the add-on is set at $14 USD per workspace per month or $140 USD per workspace per year.
