Publishing TikTok videos
There are 3 ways to publish TikTok videos in Planable. You can choose how you want your TikTok videos to be published in your page settings — each TikTok account will have its own publishing process.
| Publishing type | Account type | Edit on TikTok |
|---|---|---|
| Directly to TikTok Feed | Business | ❌ |
| Through TikTok's Inbox | All types | ✅ |
| With Planable's Mobile App | All types | ✅ |
1. Business Account: publish directly to TikTok Feed
This option lets you schedule videos and have them automatically published to your TikTok feed, just like on other platforms. Ensure your video is fully edited and ready before scheduling — no further edits can be made in the TikTok app, due to API limitations.
Requirements:
- A TikTok Business account (here's how to switch)
- Character limit: 2,200 characters
- Once scheduled, you won't be able to add or edit TikTok music or effects
- Video duration: 3 seconds – 10 minutes
- File size: Maximum 1 GB
- Resolution: Width and height between 360 px and 4096 px
After creating your TikTok post in Planable, you can schedule it or publish it immediately. Once published, the video appears in your TikTok feed.
2. Through TikTok's Inbox
This option sends your videos directly to your TikTok inbox — no Planable mobile app required. It's ideal if you want to use TikTok's music library or make last-minute edits before publishing.
- Works with any type of TikTok account
- Your caption won't be copied to TikTok's inbox
- You can edit the video in TikTok before publishing
- Video duration: 3 seconds – 10 minutes
- File size: Maximum 4 GB
- Resolution: Width 540–1080 px, Height 960–1920 px
- Aspect ratio: 9:16 (vertical)
After creating your content in Planable, schedule or publish immediately. At publish time, you'll receive a notification in TikTok's System Notifications inbox. Open it, make any edits, and publish directly from the TikTok app.
3. With Planable's Mobile App
Publishing TikToks through the Planable mobile app works the same way as publishing Instagram Stories or Reels. This is ideal for longer videos.
- Works with any type of TikTok account
- Character limit: 2,200 characters
- You can edit the video in TikTok before publishing
- Video duration: 3 seconds – 10 minutes
- File size: Maximum 4 GB
- Resolution: Width and height between 360 px and 4096 px
Download the Planable mobile app and enable push notifications. When it's time to publish, tap the notification — the TikTok app opens with the video imported and the caption ready. Make any final edits and publish.
Set user for publishing notifications
You can choose which user should receive publishing notifications on their Planable mobile app. Only one user can be selected at a time.
Publishing TikTok image posts
Planable also supports TikTok image posts — single images or carousels. These publish directly to your TikTok feed and are available for Business accounts connected via TikTok's Business API.
When you add one or more images to a TikTok post in the composer, a Privacy selector and an Additional settings button (gear icon) appear below the post content. These settings are only visible while composing — they won't show up when viewing a post in read-only mode (e.g. from the calendar).
Good to know: Image post settings require a TikTok Business account connected via TikTok's Business API. Personal or regular TikTok connections won't see these options. Mockup and custom TikTok pages in Planable also show them for planning purposes.
Privacy (who can view this post)
The Privacy button appears next to the Additional settings gear icon when composing a TikTok image post. It controls who can see the post once it's live.
- Public — everyone can view the post
- Friends — followers you follow back can view the post
- Followers — only your followers can view the post
- Private — only you can view the post
Good to know: The options available depend on the connected TikTok Business account — Planable pulls the allowed list directly from TikTok, so not every account will show all four. Default is Public if you don't change it.
Additional settings
The gear icon next to the Privacy button opens two more settings:
Allow comments — controls whether viewers can comment on the post once it's live.
- Toggle on — comments allowed (default for new posts)
- Toggle off — comments disabled on the published post
Auto add music — when enabled, TikTok automatically adds recommended music to the image or carousel post at publish time.
- Off by default — toggle on if you want TikTok to add music
💡 Pro tip: All three settings — Privacy, Allow comments, and Auto add music — are saved per post and applied when Planable publishes via the Business API. Privacy controls who can see the post; Allow comments controls whether those viewers can comment on it.
